Iz Divyn is a recording artist from Brooklyn, New York. He is a son of Dr. Malachi Z. York, who was a mentor to Prodigy, Jay-Z, Nas, and many more….
He currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia, and is a musical powerhouse with melodious sounds that will bring you to a world of Divine harmony.
He didn’t always have a desire to be a solo singer/songwriter. Like most young men growing up in the “hood” he started rapping at an early age, with dreams of making it big in Hip-Hop. “I never made the choice to change from Hip Hop to R&B or from Pop to Rock music. I believe I can affect people in any genre. And if they’ll hear me I plan to touch the world!” His musical influences include, but are not limited to: Micheal Jackson, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Portishead, Linkin Park, long time friend and mentor, Doug E. Fresh, and many Iconic lyricists such as Slick Rick, KRS One, Notorious B.I.G, Erica Badu, Lauren Hill and X Clan to name a few.
With the influence of such timeless musicians, he has created something different. A sound that he likes to refer to as “Hip-Rock” a combination of R&B, Hip Hop, Pop, Alternative and Rock music. After years of working behind the scenes with many well know and independent artists, he’s now made it his personal mission to help bring back diversity and substance to todays urban music scene with his newest project.
He has coined the phrases: #letschangethenarrative, #togetherwecanbringbackgoodmusic
